Driveway Gates Port Moody

Port Moody is not one gate market. It is two, and the difference matters.

• The strata developments in Newport Village, Suter Brook, and Klahanie are high-density townhome and condo properties. Most of them have shared or underground parking rather than private driveways, and gate work in these neighborhoods is rare. If you live in one of these developments, a driveway gate is probably not the right project for your property, and we will tell you that rather than quote something that does not fit.
• The detached-home neighborhoods are where driveway gates in Port Moody actually happen. Heritage Mountain, Heritage Woods, Ioco, Pleasantside, Barber Street, College Park, Glenayre, and Moody Centre all have private driveways, and each has its own constraint.
• Heritage Mountain and Heritage Woods sit high on a forested slope. Long driveways, real grade, and a constant fall of leaves, needles, and organic debris. A swing gate on an uphill grade drags. A ground-track sliding gate on a forested hillside fills with debris and binds. This is why we specify cantilever sliding gates on most of the hill, suspending the gate above the ground on overhead rollers so nothing accumulates in a track.
• Ioco, Pleasantside, and Barber Street
  sit closest to the water on the north side of the inlet. Maximum salt exposure, and the neighborhoods where marine-grade hardware stops being a recommendation and becomes the only defensible specification.
• Moody Centre, College Park, and Glenayre
  have flatter, more conventional driveway geometry with room behind the entrance. These properties can usually take a swing gate, which costs less than a sliding system and is simpler to maintain.

Port Moody also receives heavy annual rainfall, and gate posts carry their load eccentrically, which means a footing that is undersized or set too shallow will lean within a few seasons. Every post we set goes into concrete at the depth this ground and this frost line require.
